Dodgson

[edit]

Every Carrollian knows that the "g" in Dodgson's name is silent. It is not pronounced. It is not supposed to be pronounced. It might be pronounced by some other people with the same name. Doesn't matter. This was discussed at length as far back as 2014, archived now, but it is still there. What can we do to stop people wrecking the IPA? -- Evertype· 16:37, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unclosed template

[edit]

It's the third of three citation needed span templates in the section Speculation of sexual conduct by scholars (1940s onwards). It was closed to the end of the paragraph at one point, but there is now a paywalled reference there, so I can't tell if it should be moved back further or simply deleted. The cn was added on 19 October 2024 and a reference was inserted on 22 November 2024 without the closing double braces. Assuming the new citation verified the text, the second diff should have removed the cn. You should be able to get free access to JSTOR. At WP:LIBRARY, follow the "Get free access to research" link. Inventions / Mathematical work

[edit]

From these two paragraphs (I don't care which) is missing any mention of his work in "The Game of Logic", inventing a novel form of graphical representation similar to Venn diagrams, but with much added clarity for more than 3 sets (something Venn diagrams famously struggle with). There is a whole section in the internet encyclopedia of philosophy at https://iep.utm.edu/lewis-carroll-logic/#SH3b and wikimedia commons has an image https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Game_of_Logic_-_Frontispiece_(b)_02.svg it would be greatly appreciated if someone knowledgeable would add this. --2A02:8109:AB8F:7600:354A:EB59:422F:AE4B (talk) 11:14, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
