Map

[edit]

There's a minor problem with your map (they look great, by the way). See Talk:Hunan. --Menchi 01:42, 7 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Kyrgyzstan:

 • I have removed the map you put on Kyrgyzstan. There was a Lonely Planet logo, and this is copyrighted material. I do not believe that LP has given us the right to use their material.
 • Edits should be made at Talk:Kyrgyzstan/Temp and not at Kyrgyzstan. The temp page is used for the development of the article and will be moved to the article page once it is advanced enough. In such a situation, there is a risk that the changes made to Kyrgyzstan will be lost when the article will be transferred. More information about this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Countries. olivier 19:58, 11 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I just realized that it was maybe not you who put the map in the article. If I am wrong, sorry about that and please ignore my above comment. olivier 20:03, 11 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Page breaks

[edit]

Please don't put page breaks under the interlanguage links. They look bad. --Jiang 20:49, 13 Oct 2003 (UTC)

arhg!! you added another one to Democratic socialism. Can you please refrain from doing so? While the interlanguage links disappear, the page breaks still shows up. --Jiang 03:07, 14 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Full-page lines at the top of the page are unnecessary, as well. RickK 03:15, 14 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Again!!!!! Please stop! --Jiang 23:31, 14 Oct 2003 (UTC)

You are still adding those page breaks. Any reason why?

Try inserting both the traditional and simplified versions of the interlanguage links zh-cn:XXXXX for simplified and zh-tw:XXXXXX for traditional. --Jiang 19:51, 18 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Strathfield

[edit]

Hi Cncs wikipedia, I'm going to start working on the Strathfield suburb soon (as part of our Wikiproject Sydney suburbs subproject). I'd like to involve the original author - yourself! Could you help give me any references you sourced so we can cite them in the article? - Ta bu shi da yu 03:19, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi. I notice you have redirected User:152.163.100.203 and the talk page. Are you certain the IP is static for your ISP? If not you will get traffic and blame for what others do using that IP by redirecting here. That address is an AOL proxy and very unlikely to be your permanent IP or even your regular IP. The reason I am writing you is that I have that IP tagged as being part of recent vandal attacks from a user who rotates AOL IPs during his attacks. Let me know if you have any questions. - Tεxτurε 15:08, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I have reverted the redirects. If you wish to have some edits that were made under that IP assigned to your user ID, then see Wikipedia:Changing attribution for an edit. Noisy | Talk 18:49, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Administrative divisions

[edit]

Hi Cncs wikipedia:

Thank you for your work on the Administrative divisions of Hunan province, I never thought that anyone else would bother trying to make these lists! :D On the other hand, the format that you're using is quite different from the one that I'm using on pages like List of administrative divisions of Hebei, List of administrative divisions of Shanxi, List of administrative divisions of Inner Mongolia, List of administrative divisions of Liaoning, List of administrative divisions of Jilin, List of administrative divisions of Heilongjiang, List of administrative divisions of Jiangsu, and List of administrative divisions of Zhejiang.

Would you like to try to work out a common format so that we can work together on this project? -- ran (talk) 03:48, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Administrative divisions again

[edit]

Hi Cncs wikipedia,

I see that you've put in a lot of work into the Hunan administrative divisions page. I really like to thank you for this, first of all, because I understand how tedious this can get and how much time it takes.

But the truth is: you've done a lot of work in this area, and I've done a lot of work in this area. Eventually our efforts will collide, and we'll end up erasing a lot of each other's hard work. I don't want to see that happen, and I'm sure you don't want to either. So I think it would be great if we can arrive at a format for these lists that we can both agree with and both follow, something that combines the best features of both what you have done, and mine as well.

So, would you like to work out something together? -- ran (talk) 17:58, Dec 19, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Huanghsing.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, Silverfish 11:53, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Emperor Huangdi

[edit]

Why are you changing references to the "Yellow Emperor" to "Emperor Huangdi"? That is not where the article resides - why link to redirects? Also, the name is redundant (di already means emperor) and falsely implies that "Huangdi" is a personal name of an emperor. We mean "the Yellow Emperor" when we say Huangdi, not "Emperor Yellow". --Jiang 13:34, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Churongchi.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Churongchi.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as db-unksource.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Yulu-Mountain-Changsha.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MER-C 05:27, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Zhaoziyang2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Zhaoziyang2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:50, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Category:Mainland China

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Category:Mainland China, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. SchmuckyTheCat (talk) 00:44, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Map_hunan_province1.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Proposed deletion of List of South Korean regions by GDP

[edit]

The article List of South Korean regions by GDP has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia isn't a collection of lists.

Especially not a collection of lists by sockpuppets, put here for nationalistic willy waving purposes

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article Xu Mian (diver) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no reliable references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. A tag has been placed on Changtang (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

 • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
 • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Ways to improve Xiasi, Kaili city

[edit]

Hi, I'm Scope creep. Cncs wikipedia, thanks for creating Xiasi, Kaili city!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi, Your articles are well written, but the source are written using only bare URLS, which decay as time as time goes on. They are also in the Chinese language. This is the English Wikipedia as as such they are out of place. Please change to English.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. scope_creep (talk) 12:59, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Cncs wikipedia. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Sui Hongjun, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

 1. edit the page
 2. remove the text that looks like this:
 3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Onel5969 TT me 13:04, 22 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of village-level divisions of Hunan

我已经开始写湖北省的List of village-level divisions of Hubei~~ 那你什么时候开始写湖南省的List of village-level divisions of Hunan呢?

我基本上只是做一些区划表,借鉴于Dongcheng_District,_Beijing#Administrative_divisionsFutian_District#Subdistricts的区划表。
Geographyinitiative (talk) 11:13, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve 152nd Regiment (XPCC)

[edit]

Hello, Cncs wikipedia,

Thank you for creating 152nd Regiment (XPCC).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The article would benefit from citations to reliable sources independent of the Chinese government. Additionally, it could use some copy editing for grammar and section organization.

老乡,很久不见。我看到你在编写新疆维吾尔自治区的乡镇条目。麻烦你去编写一下湖南省的乡、镇、街道条目呗。--Huangdan2060 (talk) 12:43, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature

[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
 3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
 4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
 3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:02, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Chinese prefecture-level cities by GDP per capita, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Yulin and Jiayuguan.

About IZArc

[edit]

I proposed it for deletion review, and cited a Chinese-language source to claim that it is notable thus should be undeleted, yet many Wikipedians here are not proficient at Chinese, thus unable to verify my claim by themselves. Now that you are a native speaker of Chinese, may you spend some time reading that source, going to the deletion review page and leave a comment in the IZArc section? Thanks.--RekishiEJ (talk) 14:46, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you create articles about them?--Kaiyr (talk) 09:19, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New message to Cncs wikipedia

[edit]

I've undone your recent edits to the infoboxes of Chinese provinces/municipalities because they removed important semantic formatting (e.g. semantic list structure) and introduced style issues (e.g. small text, which is not allowed when the text is already small like in infoboxes).
